About
The Media, Culture, and Learning (MCL) SIG began in direct response to requests for debate on the interweaving of disciplines such as Media Studies (with its origins in England), Culture Studies, and Curriculum. While technology remains a vital part of our focus of interest, we use the term media to embrace all aspects of the transmission of knowledge and information rather than taking a more narrow view.

Our Goal
The MCL SIG provides a forum for discussion of educational research related to media and technology; learning and culture; information, literacy, and learning online; curriculum design and assessment; informal learning settings; and other related themes. We maintain high standards for research, value interdisciplinary conversation, and have a vested interest in fostering excellence among senior graduate students and junior faculty. MCL is interested in not only theory and research related to key MCL themes but also direct application of this growing base of knowledge and its impact on formal and informal learning. We actively seek to grow our membership base and look forward to your submissions for the AERA Annual Conference Meeting.
